Colegio Internacional Poptún Petén shines at Destination Imagination International Competition

Colegio Internacional Poptún Petén continues to solidify its position as an educational leader in the region, recently participating in the prestigious Destination Imagination competition, held at the University of San Pablo in Guatemala City.

At this important event, our students competed alongside some of the country's most outstanding bilingual schools, such as the American School of Guatemala, Colegio Maya, and Colegio Interamericano, among others.

The school participated with three teams, representing different grade levels:

  • Early Learning

  • Elementary

  • Middle School

Each team presented projects based on creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, demonstrating the commitment and skills that characterize our students.

An Achievement That Fills Us With Pride

Of the three participating teams, the Middle School team won FIRST PLACE in the Technical Challenge in their category, standing out for their innovative proposal and problem-solving abilities.

This achievement is even more remarkable considering that our students prepared their project in less than three weeks, unlike other schools with international educational systems and longer preparation times.

A Step Toward the World

Thanks to this award, the winning team has been invited to represent Guatemala at the Destination Imagination Global Finals in the United States, a unique opportunity that places our students on an international stage.

Education That Transcends

At Colegio Internacional Petén, Poptún, we believe in an education that goes beyond the classroom, where students develop real-world skills such as creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative work.

This achievement reflects not only the talent of our students but also the commitment of our teachers and the educational community that supports them every day.

We Continue to Grow

These kinds of experiences strengthen our educational project and motivate us to continue developing students prepared to face the challenges of the future.

International Support That Makes a Difference

This achievement would not have been possible without the invaluable support of our international community of volunteers. We want to give special recognition to Bonnie, whose previous experience with Destination Imagination—where one of her teams won in her district in the United States—allowed us to gain a deep understanding of how the competition works. Her knowledge was key to guiding the process and organizing the teams effectively.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to John, Victoria, and Tara, who supported our students throughout their preparation, providing constant guidance and helping them refine every detail of their presentations.

The commitment, time, and care that each of them contributed were fundamental to the performance our students demonstrated during the competition.

This support reflects the value of the international community that backs us and enriches our educational project.
